A new guide to discrimination law

13 Dec 2011

Legal Aid NSW has published a new toolkit for people who believe they have been discriminated against and want to do something about it.

A new guide to discrimination law

The Discrimination Toolkit: Your guide to making a discrimination complaint was first published in 2007 as a joint project between Legal Aid NSW, Kingsford Legal Centre and Elizabeth Evatt Community Legal Centre.

The second edition includes new information on employment discrimination and the Fair Work Act. It provides detailed coverage of both the State and Federal discrimination systems including discrimination law basics, legal and non-legal options for dealing with complaints and what to expect if your case ends up in a court or tribunal. There is also a section on where to go for help and advice, a comprehensive glossary and other resources.

This toolkit is an essential plain English guide to discrimination law and procedure for self-represented complainants. Community workers, advocates and lawyers will also find it a very useful resource for assisting clients with discrimination problems.

The toolkit can be viewed or ordered online or by calling the Publications Unit on 9219 5028.
