Welcome to BURN
BURN is a short film with a crime prevention message that is part of Legal Aid’s Community Legal Education (CLE) program for young people.
It aims to increase young peoples’ awareness of the laws around group offending and robbery as well as their rights when dealing with the police. 
 

Telephone Advice
Lawyers from the Children's Legal Service provide legal advice over the telephone to children and young people under 18 who have committed or who are suspected of committing an offence. Under the NSW Young Offenders Act, young people have the right to legal advice before making an admission or a statement to the police:

Representation in Court
The Childrens Legal Service represents children and young people under 18 in criminal and child welfare cases before the Children's Court. The Service operates from Legal Aid offices at:

    You are welcome to visit us before you appear in court. Please call for an appointment.

    Our lawyers visit juvenile justice centres and give free advice and assistance to young people in custody. We can also help with bail applications and appeals.
