Bring your bills: free legal help on hand in Tenterfield

17 Apr 2018

Legal Aid NSW will bring a special one-day bills and fines fair to Tenterfield to help community members tackle unpaid power or water bills, outstanding fines, money worries and a range of other everyday legal headaches.

Locals can drop in at Tenterfield Court House between 10am and 1pm on Thursday, 26 April, for free advice and help with issues such as keeping up with bills, trouble with the landlord, or child support.

“We know how stressful it can be when another letter turns up with the word ‘overdue’ stamped across it,” Legal Aid NSW lawyer Heidi Campbell said.

“When you’re not sure how you’re going to get back on top of bills or debts, there can be a real temptation to avoid facing up to them. But you’re not alone, and getting some free advice from a lawyer can make a big difference.”

“We help hundreds of people every year with these sorts of money worries, and we are ready to help you too. Simply bring along any unpaid bills or fines and we’ll talk you through your options.”

“We can also offer advice about a range of other legal worries – whether you’re going through a separation and are working out where the kids will live, or you’ve had a disagreement with the boss over your rights at work and want to know where you stand.”

“And we will also be talking to locals about changes to the law that are giving a second chance to disqualified drivers who have regained the community’s trust. We can talk to you about whether you may be eligible to get your license back sooner, and help you through the next steps.”
