North Coast housing project

The North Coast Accommodation Project (NCAP) is a Housing NSW-led partnership which commenced in June 2011, under the NSW Homelessness Action Plan. The project is currently funded until 30 June 2013.

NCAP operates in the Mid and Far North Coast areas of NSW. NCAP partners are Housing NSW, Legal Aid NSW, and two non-government service providers: On Track Community Programs (Far North Coast) and New Horizons Community Service (Mid North Coast).

The project aims to assist people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness to secure and maintain accommodation on the North Coast of NSW. To achieve this, project partners have established informal networks which include real estate agents and various government and non-government service providers.

Legal Aid's Lismore office has a full-time civil lawyer funded under NCAP, providing regular legal outreach services at locations including Lismore Soup Kitchen, Murwillumbah Community Centre and Byron Bay Salvation Army Cottage.

NCAP has recently been selected as a finalist in the Premier's Partnership Awards which will be announced on 12 November 2012.
