These guidelines apply to those visiting and interacting with Legal Aid NSW’s social media platforms:
Our goal is to create an online space where people feel safe to ask questions and share experiences, learn about the law and find legal support when they need it. We need to ensure the legal information we share is easy to understand and helps to foster positive community engagement and conversations.
We encourage contributions and respectful conversations on our social media channels but need these spaces to be welcoming, inclusive, and helpful for everyone. Therefore, the following guidelines should be met.
Posts may be deleted or the comments section switched off if we consider them to be:
We won’t delete comments just because they are critical of Legal Aid NSW, our services or the legal issues we post about. We value feedback and see it as an opportunity to improve but encourage you to share your thoughts and feedback with us in a constructive way.
We may block users who commit serious violations or have a pattern of breaching our community guidelines. This helps us protect our community and keep conversations helpful.
Our accounts are monitored every few hours during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. That means we may not see new comments or messages until the next workday, depending on when it was posted.
We’re a small team and don’t respond to comments or direct messages but we’re always keeping an eye on things. If our guidelines are breached, we’ll jump in to ensure the space stays respectful and welcoming to everyone.
We’re unable to provide legal advice tailored to your situation but we’ll do our best to point you to useful free resources on our website. You can also speak to our LawAccess team who can provide support for your specific situation. Start a web chat or call 1300 888 529.
