Quality standards
Law Practices undertaking appellate criminal law work must comply with the Quality Standards.
The Quality Standards sets out the standards for panel barristers representing legal aid clients and providing advice to Legal Aid NSW in appeals to the Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeal (CCA) and the High Court of Australia. The Quality Standards apply to barristers briefed by in-house Legal Aid NSW solicitors and private panel lawyers acting in legally aided criminal matters.
The Quality Standards sets out the standards for panel law practices representing clients in legally aided criminal matters in the Supreme Court and Federal Court and for conviction, sentence, Crown, and interlocutory appeals before the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal and consequential matters in the High Court of Australia and indictable matters in the Local Court and District Court. The Quality Standards apply to in-house Legal Aid NSW solicitors and panel law practices acting in legally aided criminal matters.
