Practice standards
The Practice Standards governing the work of solicitors and barristers in the Court of Criminal Appeal are listed below.
The Appellate Criminal Law Barrister Practice Standards sets out practice standards for barristers representing legal aid clients and providing advice to Legal Aid NSW in appeals to the Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeal (CCA) and the High Court of Australia. These practice standards apply to barristers briefed by in-house Legal Aid NSW solicitors and private lawyers acting in legally aided matters.
The Complex Criminal Law Solicitor Practice Standards sets out practice standards for lawyers representing clients in legally aided criminal matters in the Supreme Court and Federal Court and for conviction, sentence, Crown, and interlocutory appeals before the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal and consequential matters in the High Court of Australia and complex matters in the Local Court and District Court. These practice standards apply to in-house Legal Aid NSW solicitors and private lawyers acting in legally aided criminal matters.
