FAP household scenario 7: group household

Tom has applied for legal aid for a District Court criminal law matter. He is 36 and lives with an old school friend, Hans. They are both single and have shared an apartment for the last 10 years. They split bills evenly and share groceries and chores.

Tom = group household = single person household = รปNo FAP

Legal Aid NSW determines that Tom does not have a FAP. Tom and Hans are not financially related because they are not in a relationship or joint tenants in property. Rather, they are considered as two ‘single person’ households under the one roof.
