Legal Aid NSW has established six Legal Aid Review Committees under s53 of the Legal Aid Commission Act 1979 (NSW) (the Act). These Committees determine appeals about legal aid applications and grants of legal aid.

Three of the Committees, the Family Law Legal Aid Review Committees, specialise in appeals in family law matters.
