Parole and Prevention Orders Legal Service (PPO)

Legal Aid NSW statewide specialist service.

The Parole and Prevention Orders Legal Service (PPO) is a statewide specialist service of Legal Aid NSW.

PPO can give advice, minor help and representation to prisoners. Our service is free and confidential.

We can represent you at:

  • hearings at the State Parole Authority (SPA)
  • life sentence determinations
  • segregation appeals
  • visiting judge hearings
  • high risk offender applications.

We can provide free advice and minor help in matters like:

  • parole
  • security classification
  • other prison issues.

Our lawyers either visit or arrange video link or telephone conferences with prisoners in all NSW prisons.

You can contact us by:

  • using the Common Auto Dial List (CADL) and dialling #2. Ask for an appointment with the PPO. This is a free call. Phone access may sometimes be limited to:
    • 10am to 12pm
    • 2pm to 4pm
  • asking the Functional Manager or SAPO to help you contact the PPO
  • writing to: Parole and Prevention Orders Legal Service, Legal Aid NSW, PO Box K847, Haymarket NSW 1240.

Friends and family of prisoners can contact Legal Aid NSW on 02 9219 5000. However, we may not be able to share personal information or help friends and family in the same way that we help prisoners.
