Law for Community Sector Workers Employment Law

We run free workshops for staff, volunteers and board/committee members of NSW community organisations.  

This workshop covers:

  • Employment entitlements
  • The National Employment Standards (NES)
  • Employment protections
  • Casual work and recovery of unpaid wages 

This workshop is delivered by Legal Aid NSW lawyers with extensive experience in civil law.

Registration is essential as places for this workshop are limited. 

 

Who should attend? 


  • Staff who work with job seekers or new entrants to the workforce.
  • Staff that have contact with parents and carers of vulnerable workers including disability, youth, migrant and family services workers. 

Learning Outcomes 


By completing this workshop, participants will have information and tools to:

  • Explain the system for regulating employment and employment entitlements
  • Better understand the law as it relates to National Employment Standards (NES)
  • Explain the employment protections available to workers 
  • Describe the processes available to recover unpaid wages 
  • Identify where to get legal help 

Duration

This is a half-day workshop of 3 hours duration.
