Law for Community Sector Workers Domestic and Family Violence

We run free workshops for staff, volunteers and board/committee members of NSW community organisations.  

This workshop covers:

  • Family law processes, parental responsibility and family court orders
  • Local court processes and Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs)
  • AVO Conditions
  • Where to get legal help 

This workshop is delivered by Legal Aid NSW lawyers with extensive experience in family and criminal law.

Registration is essential as places for this workshop are limited.

  • Staff from services working with families.

Learning Outcomes 


By completing this workshop, participants will have information and tools to:

  • Explain the family law system in relation to family violence including Family Dispute Resolution and court processes
  • Describe the process of obtaining an AVO, its conditions and consequences
  • Explain the interactions between AVOs and Family Court Orders
  • Identify where to get legal help 

Duration

This is a half-day workshop of 3 hours duration.
