Law for Community Workers: What’s the law? Australian law for new arrivals

We run free workshops for staff, volunteers and board/committee members of NSW community organisations.

What's the law? is an education kit for teachers, tutors and community workers. It has been developed by Legal Aid NSW to help present information about the law to newly arrived migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The resources in the kit aim to improve their understanding of common legal issues, while developing English language skills.

You can watch the DVD online and download activity sheets and presenter information from the Legal Aid NSW website or YouTube.

This Train the Trainer Workshop covers:

  • The resources provided in the What’s the law? kit and other important legal resources
  • Key legal concepts from the What’s the law? kit.
  • Basic legal knowledge for community workers, teachers and tutors to assist them with the presentations

Registration is essential.
