Information about how to deal with a dispute with your neighbour.

Disputes between neighbours may occur because of:

  • animals that become a nuisance or danger to others
  • a disagreement over building or fixing a dividing fence or retaining wall
  • loud noises including barking dogs, loud music and car alarms
  • a tree has become dangerous or damaged property.

If you have a dispute with your neighbour, talking with them is often the best first step. If you have a dispute with your neighbour, you may be able to resolve the issue without having to go to court.
