Regional Outreach Clinic Program (ROCP) Cowra/Bathurst EOIs

We are currently calling for expressions of interest from Legal Aid NSW panel lawyers to provide legal advice services in Cowra and Bathurst.

Please see the ROCP Cowra/Bathurst expressions of interest section of this page for more information.

The Regional Outreach Clinic Program (ROCP) supports regular face-to-face legal advice to people experiencing disadvantage in regional, rural and remote locations in NSW where there are limited or no other options for free face-to-face legal advice. Legal services are provided by Legal Aid NSW panel lawyers and clinics are held in partnership with local host organisations including neighbourhood centres, local courts and community services. Some clinics are supported by a roster of Legal Aid NSW in-house legal practitioners and Legal Aid NSW panel legal practitioners.

The ROCP Guidelines contain more detailed information about the program. Services at the clinics are covered by the Legal Aid NSW complaints policy. Complaints and other feedback about services at the clinics can be directed to the Manager of the ROCP.

The ROCP is currently supporting clinics at Bathurst, Bega, Batemans Bay, Cowra, Gloucester, Goulburn, Griffith, Lithgow, Queanbeyan and Kempsey.

Full details for all of the clinics, and how to make a booking are in the Regional Outreach Clinic Program Clinics section below.

ROCP Cowra/Bathurst expressions of interest

Legal Aid NSW is seeking panel lawyers who are based in the Central West region to provide services at legal advice clinics in Cowra and Bathurst. The clinics are held weekly and provide legal advice on crime, civil and family law issues. The panel lawyers will participate once or twice a month in a roster for the clinic alongside Legal Aid NSW and community legal centre lawyers.

The Cowra legal advice clinic is held on Monday from 11am to 3pm at the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre. The Bathurst legal advice clinic is held on Thursday from 10:30am to 4pm at The Neighbourhood Centre in Bathurst.

ROCP panel lawyers are remunerated on the same basis as Legal Aid NSW Local Court duty lawyers for the time allocated to the clinic and compensated for travel to a clinic that is more than 35 kilometres from their place of business.

Expressions of interest can be sent by email to Kate Halliday clsd@legalaid.nsw.gov.au by 5pm Friday 8 March 2024 addressing the following selection criteria:

  • Membership (as principal or associate) of one or more Legal Aid NSW panels in the Central West region.
  • Ability to effectively meet the legal needs of people experiencing social and economic disadvantage.
  • Extent of the lawyer’s experience in the relevant areas of law (crime, civil and family).
  • Ability to work flexibly in partnership with Legal Aid NSW, other legal assistance services and the clinic’s host organisation.

The EOI should include the name and contact details of a referee.

Further information is available in the ROCP Guidelines or by contacting Kate Halliday Kate.Halliday@legalaid.nsw.gov.au | (02) 91219 6399.
