With the passage of the Bail and Other Legislation Amendment (Domestic Violence) Act 2024, the Local Court has begun centralising Bail Courts to streamline bail matters previously handled by Registrars. To facilitate this transition, the Local Court has established a dedicated Bail Division to oversee all adult bail-related proceedings.

All weekend Adult Bail Courts across Sydney Metropolitan and Regional NSW are now operating under the centralised Bail Division model. The centralisation of weekday Adult Bail Courts across Regional NSW has been completed, The full centralisation of weekday Adult Bail Courts across the Sydney Metropolitan area has not commenced.

The Local Court has established a dedicated Bail Division to oversee all adult bail-related proceedings across New South Wales.

The centralised model provides a consistent and efficient approach to the management of adult bail matters statewide and has expanded opportunities for practitioners to undertake Virtual Bail Court work.
