Are you on a temporary visa?

Have you been hurt or harmed by your partner? You can get free legal help.

Introduction

Have you applied for a partner visa or permanent visa as a secondary applicant and experienced domestic violence? If your relationship ends or you want to leave your partner before you get a permanent visa, get legal advice as soon as possible.

Your partner cannot cancel your visa.

Under the family violence provisions, you might still be able to get a permanent visa if your relationship has ended and there was domestic violence.

Advice about your visa

The Legal Aid NSW Immigration Team can tell you what the family violence provisions mean and help you apply to Immigration. They can advise you about other visa options if the family violence provisions don’t apply to you.
