Legal Aid NSW statewide specialist service.

We are a statewide specialist legal service providing free legal help to people affected by bushfires, storms or floods. Our lawyers attend Recovery Centres, provide legal help via our telephone adviceline (1800 801 529) and work with community workers and stakeholders to help disaster affected communities access legal help. 

If you’ve been affected by a bushfire, storm or flood in New South Wales, we can help you with everyday legal problems including insurance claims and disputes, tenancy accessing disaster grants, financial hardship and Centrelink.

We provide legal help for the following issues:
  • insurance claims and disputes
  • tenancy and housing problems
  • eligibility and applying for disaster grants
  • financial hardship
  • Centrelink
  • your rights at work
  • replacing important documents
  • domestic violence and family law advice
  • disputes with neighbours, and
  • other everyday legal problems
